Why are my Google Ads getting clicks but no conversions?

There are several reasons why your ads might be generating clicks but not bookings or sales.

  1. Bidding strategy – If your campaign is optimising for clicks instead of conversions, you’re not signalling to Google that form submissions or revenue matter most.
  2. Keyword targeting – Broad or low-intent keywords can drive traffic from users who are curious, not ready to buy.
  3. Landing page experience – You might be attracting the right audience, but losing them on your website. Slow loading speeds, poor navigation, weak calls-to-action, or generic copy that doesn’t match your ad message can all hurt conversions.

If you get these three right, you should see meaningful improvements in conversion rate.

But there’s more.

  1. Product or offer problem – Even with the right traffic and a well-built landing page, your product, pricing, or positioning might not be compelling enough.
  2. External factors – Long sales cycles, trust issues, or heavy competition can also affect results. Sometimes you’re competing against larger or more established brands.

We’ve encountered all of these issues in client accounts — and even internally as an agency. The key is identifying what you can control, fixing those first, and making other adjustments where applicable.

Clicks are easy. Conversions require alignment across everything.
